Government Polytechnic, Amadalavalasa was established in 2009, wide G.O. Ms. No. 23, Dt: 28.02.2009, and the class work began from the academic year 2009-2010. Initially the classes were conducted in Government Junior College,Amadalavalasa and the first Principal (OSD) was Sri K. Lakshmi Narayana. Later the college was shifted to its own buildings which is located at Dannanapetavillage, 5 Km away from Amadalavalasa town of Srikakulam district. The institution has a big campus which is situated in 14.5 acres, with three blocks, one Administrativeblock, one block for Workshops and Laboratories and another Academic block. The college was started with two programmes,with intake of 60 in each programme namely:

1. Electronics and Communication Engineering
2. Mechanical Engineering

Government Polytechnic, Amadalavalasa is affiliated to State Board of Technical Education and Training, Andhra Pradesh (SBTET AP) with Institute code 208.

In the year 2023, our institution achieved accreditation for Electronics and Communication Engineering branch from the National Board of Accreditation for three years.
